There's a certain bitter amusement to the parasite class and their stooges inveighing against an allegedly destructive species.

They do get edgy when they hear the word "invasive"!

(Also, "squish and dispose" makes them a tad paranoid.)

How do you dispose of squish?

I can imagine them suggesting gloves, mask, social distance, ad perhaps some kind of medical intervention to prevent any contamination. 🤔

Lots of booster shots seem appropriate. I'm happy to forego my share. I'm going to opt out of the squishing, too, which makes disposal moot.

I was on the East Coast 2x in August and was truly shocked to see and hear the 'if you see it, stomp on it' edicts in the city I was visiting! I don't like to kill bugs, insects or spiders personally, but I get why some folks do it sometimes. Mainly the whole thing registered a certain kind of fear = violence, a general override/disregard for sentient beings and also, why were the citizens of the town responsible for carrying out the 'cure' for this 'imbalance?' It was disturbing! Also, just now I read the word "planthopper" as plan-Thopper, and I guess that is what I was, scratching my head at the whole thing.

So well-put, Malika. Thank you. They're aiming to recruit us into their madness and trusting that fear (and suppressed anger) will make us willing to stomp away.

plan-Thopper! 🙃

Like a virus, it’s another bug that got out and like the genie, they ain’t going back in the bottle. Without some industrial value, they won’t be going extinct, either.

Thank you, James! I swooned when reading this: "All over the world, furthermore, species able to thrive in polluted environments are finding their way to polluted environments, thriving there, and restoring them to ecological balance."

This seemed perfect for you! Nature finds a way, and we can work with that if we want. It would mean a much better life for all if we do.
