Science "experts" have us gleefully stomping & squishing Spotted Lanternflies
(for no reason?)
“This death culture cannot imagine solutions that do not bleed.” (Diane di Prima)
Here’s how the official website of the City of New York puts it:
The Spotted Lanternfly (SLF) is an invasive planthopper, first discovered in New York City in July 2020. While it can infest trees, it is not considered a widespread threat to our city’s forests. However, it is a significant threat to a wide range of agricultural crops including walnuts, grapes, hops, apples, blueberries, and stone fruits.
While these insects can jump and fly short distances, they spread mainly through human activity. SLF can lay their eggs on any number of surfaces, such as vehicles, stone, rusty metal, outdoor furniture, and firewood. Adult SLF can hitch rides in vehicles, on any outdoor item, or cling to clothing or hats, and be easily transported into and throughout New York.
So… the experts [sic] suggest:
Harming the city’s wildlife is prohibited. However, in an effort to slow the spread of this species, if you see a Spotted Lanternfly you should squish and dispose of it.
Consult your nearest search engine and you’ll find “the media” enthusiastically imploring everyone to slaughter these alleged pests on site.
Even the local spiders are getting into the act — as this very recent photo of mine demonstrates:
Of course, the vipers are always ready to spill some blood:
As for me, I see these colorful insects all over my neighborhood and just ignore them because:
I’m not in the habit of killing other beings.
Humans stomping insects is hardly an efficient method of protecting (supposedly) threatened flora but it is an effective method to further condition us to blindly follow “official” orders.
The “experts” are already backtracking on their original proclamations about potential SLF-caused damage.
It has always served me well to disregard edicts emanating from people calling themselves scientists, politicians, journalists, and experts.
Epilogue: The Spotted Lanternfly is a native of China. I’m astonished that the “truth warriors” haven’t yet breathlessly declared it to be part of an ominous “communist” plot.

They'll be crossing that northern border soon enough...
There's a certain bitter amusement to the parasite class and their stooges inveighing against an allegedly destructive species.
