Hi Jaye! And yes, Dylan is not automatically associated with this song but I love that he's the author. Also, I'm now curious to know more about your singing!
I have mostly sung church music, and chant in the later years. But I have had some lovely times as well, singing (and playing guitar...before arthritis) with friends in various locations.
Just before the last plague struck, I became friends with a young woman who shared her technical knowledge with me. My skills grew and ended up being the key that got me into church when many weren't able. But I sang alone, which wasn't right
By the end of the main craziness, I resigned as music leader. My young friend has taken it over and is doing brilliantly.
I am missing harmony, and am hoping to find an outlet for that somewhere. But in the meantime, my chant's getting pretty good!
On an unrelated note, my husband and I are hoping to make a present to our 30ish year old son of a series of sessions with a trainer. We live in NYC, near York in the 70s. He's near us. Since you know the business of training around here, I wonder if you have a good recommendation for him to check out. I figure you'd know a knowledgeable, nice guy doing that work.
Hi Beverly! I'll have to ponder because it's been a while since I did any training work in Manhattan. But I'll come up with something! In the meantime, I'm not sure about your email address so could you reply to the next email you get from me via Substack? Thanks!
I have find memories of this song. A friend I sang with for years sang it...occasionally at weddings.
It astounds me that I didn't realize it was Bob Dylan. Apparently I wasn't the fan I thought I was!

Thank you for sharing! I appreciate knowing this about you.
I pray you will soon be able to return to the guitar and to vocal harmony (in more ways than one). 🙏
Thank you so much. Yes, that word, harmony, is certainly multifaceted!
🙂

Thanks for this! Sending it off to several dear friends 😊
Bless you, Claire! 🙏

Hey Micky,
Great post. I sang it, of course

I think you have my email.
With thanks,

Hi Micky, Thank you! I didn't see this response until just now. Your opinion holds a lot of weight with me. I'll contact you on your next post.
Best, Beverly
Hi there! I do believe I emailed since this comment but I'll watch for your email soon. :)
Bob Dylan convinced me "righteous" was not a bad word. Thank you, Mickey Z.
Much appreciated, Jack! 🙏
100%!
