Is there a systemic element to inbreeding among Muslims?
I ask because of my experience in genealogy. Endogamous populations are far more common than is generally realized. Island populations such as the Azores or the Hebrides can produce some pretty dense family trees. One of my own great-grand-parent lines come from a notoriously inter-related population, the Cape Breton McNeils.
Thank you, Jaye, and yes...in many cases, if we go back far enough, inbreeding was once a norm of sorts in so many places. What jumped out to me about Arabs and Muslims is that studies were done and articles written 20+ years ago about the potential health issues but it appears very little has changed. It makes me wonder if this relates to Mohammad having married his first cousin - thus, creating a template.
But, for clarification, my primary motive for touching on this topic is how children are once again the innocent, blameless victims.
Yes. It's always the children. Abd they have no say even in coming to existence. I would think that polygamy would exacerbate the issue. The genetics would be SO dense. I wonder if Mormons had this issue?
Ownership of the means of production by the (so-called) “people” — through the mechanism of a (hypothetical) government of the people and by the people and for the people — is wishful thinking at best and an evil lie at worst. This “ownership” only results in more power concentrated in the hands and the heads of the small clique of people who staff government and bureaucratic positions. Who do these staffers ultimately serve? The (so-called) “people”?!?! That’s ridiculous.
Socialist states require powerful central governments. Power corrupts. And putting trust in some hypothetical called “popular sovereignty”— aka trusting the people, the mass, hoi polloi, dēmos, the mob, the public, the plebes, the proletariat — is incredibly naïve. The mass has no judgment. “Lacking utterly in originality and moral courage, the majority has always placed its destiny in the hands of others. Incapable of standing responsibilities, it has followed its leaders even unto destruction” (Emma Goldman). The mass is utterly submissive. The mass is craven. The mass is inert. “The [mass] wants but to be dominated, to be led, to be coerced. As to individualism, at no time in human history did it have less chance of expression, less opportunity to assert itself in a normal, healthy manner” (written in 1910 by Emma Goldman).
People who believe in socialism are like people who are true believers in scientism and who are true believers in the (so-called) “European Enlightenment”. These people are true believers that human beings — organized into groups — are masters of our own destiny. These people are true believers that socialism has redeeming qualities, as a set of ideas as to how to organize a political-economy. These true believers are hopelessly deceived.
If and only if capitalism is the one and only alternative to socialism, people who believe in capitalism as just as deceived.
Give me the sovereignty of the individual and give me anarchy (literally “no rulers”) and give me the laws of Nature & Nature’s God or give me death. Screw both socialism and capitalism. They are both working together to create civilization. Ralph Waldo Emerson quote: “The end of the human race will be that it will eventually die of civilization.”
“Socialism-humanity is not yet up to the task”- that’s it’s, summed up. A society like that can only work when it’s assumed voluntarily. And even then, the natural man has to overcome a lot for it to work. The Mormons tried socialism, called it “The United Order”, and rebranded it “the law of consecration”. It failed because people got scared and angry and greedy (all natural emotions). The modern “law of consecration” is not currently being enforced, but those who have covenanted to obey it could, hypothetically, be called upon at any time to practice this way of living. I don’t think it’s going to work any time soon.
Thank you for such an on-point reply and for adding the Mormon context. I didn't know about that!
P.S. I pray daily that your closing sentence is proven wrong. We're all born with the ability but resisting fear, pride, and evil has been the sticking point for a long time... 🙏
Everyone is to selfish for this to work. It’s a give me, take what I can and do least amount of work. It’s disgusting what humanity has become. Obviously, not everyone, but enough to make this not work!
Finally watched the video. That is my understanding of socialism. A big problem is that a potentially wealthy person, knowing that he will be taxed heavily, may be disincentivized from developing his skills/ideas.
Human nature is definitely not "there" yet.
Then there's the collective ownership that gives folks the idea that they're the boss of everybody, because they have contributed to everybody's healthcare, housing, or whatever.
Canada is sorta-kinda socialist. And Wildly Naïve. Policy seems to assume that no one could have bad intent. But people do. It costs everyone as taxes go up, to seemingly no return.

So I'm curious.

I hear you, Nancy. As a society, humans seldom show the consistent level emotional intelligence needed to cooperate.

Answer? I have none
