It's not a completely mental phenomenon when you've had numerous sports injuries! Ditto, injuries from feeding animals during blizzards and ice, sawing and splitting wood, working on vehicles, even gardening!
Have also had numerous sports injuries.... nevertheless, there's a lot more to we humans than we can imagine, and our potential is far beyond what we realize. Do you remember Jack Schwartz? He could have people put cigarettes out on his skin and smile, relaxed, feeling no pain at all. I remember seeing a stage hypnotist hypnotize a random audience member into believing a piece of chalk was hot, and she not only yelped in pain, but got a red mark on her arm. And then there are the Malaysian trance dancers with literally hundreds of long needles through their arms, legs, and torsos, who feel no pain at all, and on and on.... Remember Milarepa... Mind is all.
Yes, it's amazing how pain is in many ways a completely mental phenomenon, but it sure doesn't seem that way!
