Thank you. Good to have brothers in disillusionment. I penned a similar article, a bit less polite:

Thank you for sharing for I must clarify that I'm not disillusioned. I feel disappointment at times (with myself and others) but disillusionment.

Thanks for clarifying - I don’t want to put words into your mouth. To me, based on my non-dual spiritual beliefs and practice, dis-illusion, contrary to common perceptions, is a very important and necessary step to ultimate freedom. It is living in “mental illusions” that causes all our suffering. Seeing reality as it is, sets us free. Cheers.

Love the article. These are the things we can do for the "greater good". I hate that term because it has been hijacked to intimidate conformity. Helping others in need is the real greater good!

Thankfully the election is over. I did not get asked too often, and only a couple friends told me they had gone. But the amount of Emails (all from Republicans) was enormous. OOOOfff. It is over for 4 years. Next time I might shut down the computer for a few days!

On Tuesday someone I know (who does not vote) was heading into a political environment. I decided to kind of sideways 'coach them up' because I sensed the topic of voting would arise.

So I said to them, "If anyone asks me today if I voted, I'm going to say, 'Voting is a private choice, and whether someone votes or not is none of my business- and certainly not who or what they vote for, if so. In that spirit, like medical privacy, I am going to decline answering that question, to normalize not asking people about voting.'" The person noted what I said...

and hours later told me the first thing their co-worker asked that day was, "Did you vote for _______?"

The person I know told me they responded, "I think it's best if I don't announce...." to which their co-worker replied, "...Yeah, me, too..." And when that other person came back from their lunch break and submitting their ballot, another co-worker asked them, "Who did you vote for?" that other person replied, "I think it's best if I don't...."

Make not asking people about voting normal again! :)

Does sound like a mantra! :)

And, I'm trying! I sensed this person I knew would be surprised by the voting question, so I prepped them without their knowing it to help keep the vibes at their political location chill!

Honest question: forgetting about the presidential "choice", do you think there is any value in voting on state or local representation and issues? Does that have the potential to make a positive difference in people's lives? Or is it all just more bureaucracy and red tape that gets nothing of value done? I am pondering this and am interested in your (and anyone else who wants to respond) opinion.

Thanks, Karen, quick reply: I suppose I could imagine, on a case-by-case basis, instances in which local voting could produce palpable change.

Didn’t vote or in any way participate in the farcical presidential selection.
