The Fear Matrix™ warns NYC about spiders that may never arrive — or bite a human
what a tangled web "they" weave...
I wrote last year about the patently farcical spotted lanternfly panic:
(Note: This post is not about spiders.)
Well, the “experts” are at it again with flying Joro spiders. It’s a great opportunity to reacquaint yourself with the basics of manipulation and propaganda.
Here’s how the mendacious media tried to hook the unsuspecting:
The venomous Joro spider population is headed northward, with New York City and parts of the Tri-State Area likely in its path. “If you're an arachnophobe, these things are your nightmares,” ecologist Andy Davis says.
When they use words like “venomous” and “nightmares” — and cite a “scientist” — many people will stop reading after the opening paragraph. The masses have seen enough and now have something interesting [sic] to talk about at the water cooler or on their social media pages.
Those who dare continue reading a little further will be told that the spiders are indeed “scary-looking” and how — theoretically — they could-maybe-perhaps bite humans or pets (spoiler alert: they prefer to not enter human homes).
Then comes this line: “Although no attacks have been reported…”
Like all deceivers, the media openly tell us when they are in full fake news mode.
In this case, they did so right before they quickly jumped right back into important [sic] information like how to kill a living being that poses no threat.
Another article even categorized the Joro as “the shyest spider ever documented.”
Finally, we’re informed that the very, very rare bite of a Joro spider will rarely break human skin and may (at worst) feel like a bee sting.
So, this summer in the Big Apple, the usual number of people will get stung by bees — while cowering in fear over a virtually harmless arachnid that may or may not make its way into this geographical area.
Keep in mind: From CEOs to Substackers and beyond, a whole lot of folks wanna frighten you into compliance of some sort.
The good news is that such manipulation is rendered impotent by consistently sovereign thought. In fact, the attempts at deception can become quite comical.
So, if you notice that anyone is utilizing scare tactics on you, it’s safe to assume that they’re looking to increase and exploit your anxiety.
Respond accordingly…
P.S. Perhaps I’ll see a few Joro spiders to photograph!

Not a spider fan here, and these are big ! Until a few years ago we had here in GA quite large yellow and black spiders, but I think they might have sprayed, last year I dd not see them. I get bitten by these tiny jumping spiders, I was assured they do not bite but they do. Remember also that daddy long legs are venomous. But their fangs cannot penetrate our skin, and how much chance is there, that one will bite you in an open wound? And there is also the opening sentence : a study shows.... 90 % of studies are either not done or done poorly. So how much chance is there to fall on one of the few that are done properly, and that have been posted properly? Imagine how many poor people could get fed by all the money spent on needless studies! That can get me quite angry!
Something tells me that you won’t encounter any, but should you, I look forward to the photos!
