This is spectacular. I'd never considered Heaven in this way, but you've just listed 80% of my mental clutter. If that's gone I will be in Heaven, LOL!
Contemplating Utopia/Heaven is such a great way to discern whether the things we normalize are worth it after all. Reminds me of our podcast conversation about a money-free, excitement-based economy:
Whoa...it's somewhat disconcerting to see the date on that podcast (Dec. 2021)! But thank you, bestie, for adding this context to today's contemplation...and for being someone with whom I can talk about faith, struggle, and so much more. 🙏
"If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world" -from The Hobbit.
I like that thought, but I like the thought of Heaven, which promises us so MUCH more. It's hard to imagine that God promises us what we cannot see or hear yet.
In the meantime, we do our best to get out of our own way.
Mickey, thank you for the inspiring start to the day.
Been a while since I commented but I had to do so for this article. Capitalism and Marxism are Enlightenment claptrap to justify why people run the "rat race" and seem to go nowhere while others rise to the top. This life is a test, don't take the world's ticket. As you said, the Beatitudes are a wonderful starting point.
Yours is often my first read of the day but I've been really busy in the mornings with work (many people retired and no one is hired to backfill) and forget to comment. You're a ray of sunshine in a dreary world.
Thanks, it makes the day go faster at any rate. Thanks to your actions and musings, my coworker and I carry bottles of water and bananas in the cab of the truck to give out to people panhandling at intersections in Baltimore. It's not much but no one has ever turned us down.

It can be hard to fathom another way...
Bless you, Jaye, for having ears to hear! As for another way, the Sermon on the Mount is a wonderful foundation. 🙏
Yes! Good suggestion

Thank you, Sim, and amen! 🙏

You're very kind, my friend. I'm sorry to hear about the situation on your job but I'm happy to hear you stop by here each day nonetheless! 🙏

Bless you for that practice and I must declare: it IS much. 🙏
