"The sound of less subjugation (for us) " doesn't really roll off the tongue though, however.

But that yet another useful line of thought. The parasites have effectively programmed us to prefer pithy slogans over meaningful contemplation.

haha Mickey walking in squares! At least here in the South, we have some off-grid streets! And the pathways I made in my yard, one acre, are all curly. Strange enough, the animals usually walk the curly paths even they could easily go straight. The sound of freedom for me, is early in the morning, when barely light, the birds start singing. I do remember the awful bang of jets when in Belgium, which is so small all regions get to enjoy the sound LOL

Heavenly: "Early in the morning, when barely light, the birds start singing."

I'm so happy to report I get to experience that here, too!

without the sound of cars anywhere... well if you are early enough, you probably can LOL. This morning Tippi woke up at half past 5 so we WERE early indeed! Dog awake mom awake!

No cars? That I cannot relate to. I wake very early each day for the gym and if my windows are open, I hear (among other things) cars, car radios, car horns, garbage trucks, etc. Also: people either staggering home from local bars or making their way to the subway for the early-early shift.

your description makes me think of an old song, from Jacques Dutronc, Iil est 5 heures Paris s'eveille). It is 5 Paris wakes up. I guess old blue eyes was right and NY never sleeps at all!

Indeed, with so many jobs being on a 24-hour cycle now, it's truer than ever.

I have just returned home from the joyful task of assisting my middle daughter as she brought her first child into the world.

One of my pleasures from my time there, in Southern Ontario, was sitting on their deck in the early-ish morning with my coffee, under their 3 huge trees and listening to the birds. They have so many!
