I love that Camus quote and so many others by him, this one especially:
“In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer. And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there’s something stronger—something better, pushing right back.”
we had to read Camus while in school, but I don't remember what, certainly not this! I will have to check him out again. Probably misjudged the man due to a stupid piece they picked for our school reading!
His essays and speeches are inspiring, profound, and exceptionally relevant to today. I highly recommend "Speaking Out," which is a collection of his lectures and speeches. I happened to be listening to the audiobook while doing my CJ Hopkins Dissident Dialogue and quoted Camus several times in our exchange:
I’m trying to find a balance--staying informed on what’s going on in the world (which is mostly doom-oriented) and a focus on spirituality and even *gasp* fun.
I feel that shutting out world news could even be dangerous...I don’t want surprises...and I would have missed knowing about this huge possible turning point (from New Zealand). Finally some hope!
Yet the nature of vigilance in people requires constant reflection of the most grim outcomes in order to avoid them.
There's a reason that top level think tanks look for doomers. They are precisely the outcomes they are trying to avoid and need people with the strength to contemplate them.
What happens when you only think positive and expect the best? This led to the largest criminal genocide in world history with the vaccines. I will stay doomer and stay alive whilst you be gay and blithe, thanks. I have a feeling there were lots of people like me during the last Ice Age.
you can be aware AND live joyful ! I am reading a David Icke book, and after a lot of doom thinking (although quite often with a wink) he advizes to do this exercise every day for 2 months: consider how you are unending awareness, forget your body and your sorrows and be in that awareness. You are godly! (and yes, I suppose God to is aware of what is going on)

You're not wrong.
I am still trying to break free from the habit formed as I watched, with morbid fascination, society collapse.
I claimed 2023 for joy, then realized I had no idea what that might look like.
It's November, and I am still kinda at a loss. But that new grandbaby sure helped.
I AM scrolling a lot less.
Yes! Celebrate the small victories as they add up to meaningful change! 🙏 💕
animals help, too! a joy to feed the birds and hear them chatter among the trees!
Thanks Mickey Z for another refreshing reminder.
