Here ^ is a misguided meme making the rounds.
Click here for more information on the legislation in question. Spoiler alert: Drag shows weren’t “banned.” They were regulated.
A summary:
“This bill creates an offense for a person who engages in an adult cabaret performance on public property or in a location where the adult cabaret performance could be viewed by a person who is not an adult.”
If you read this ^ passage and oppose it, check out my recent post:
As for the other part of that meme:
Peaceable, public assembly is protected by the First Amendment whether we agree with the opinions stated or not.
However, if any Nazi or Klansman were to don lingerie, put on clownish and misogynist makeup, and then grind for or with a child, they would be arrested.
Take a long moment and let that sink in very deeply…
So what’s with the drag reading books to kids in libraries ? What is that ? How does get classified ? And why are drag divas so inclined suddenly to be reading books to kids ?
I've seen people wailing about how "trans people can't be trans in public anymore!" which is willfully obtuse.
I would like to see an addition to the bill that penalizes parents for bringing their kids to drag shows in private venues.
Oh, and while we're at it, can Tennessee also ban child pageantry? You know, for consistency's sake.
