Another great selection. If I had to pick a theme to describe it, I'd call it disciplined empathy—a nice balance.

I had a memorably frustrating quarrel with a friend over empathy. He saw it as something one can easily have in excess. I guess, maybe, but like any and every quality, one needs to know how to use it. The quality itself doesn't determine what we do and, on its own, it doesn't have agency. That's a much more complex process.

Thank you, as always, my friend.

So well-stated: "The quality itself doesn't determine what we do and, on its own, it doesn't have agency"

To which, I'd add: Qualities operate optimally in combination with other qualities, e.g. empathy with discernment.

Every time someone is cruel to you, do something kind for yourself and do something kind for someone else.

Excellent! But May I also add, do something kind for the one who was cruel as well. ❤️ This doesn’t mean that you condone their behavior, but allows you to show Love to all, even those who persecute us. Be The Love 💕

This occurred to me while walking in the warm gulf waters this morning: perhaps it is time we started calling the climate change narrative what it is, CLIMATE CHAINS. Sounds the same, yet closer to truth.

Peace,

be brave everyone.

Good call, my friend.

I used to mock Obama's campaign slogan like this: Change you can bereave in.

But now, I'll use: CHAINS you can believe in.
