As I watch the Truther [sic] Community and the Medical Freedom Movement™ in action, I’m positive that most of them would believe anything — as long as it even tangentially confirmed their bias while raising their individual profile (and subscriber count).
In case you don’t think cancel culture is alive and well amongst the easily-offended “free thinkers,” please note that I’ve had seven people unsubscribe since this post went live about three hours ago. 🤡
I posted and deleted a tendentious, polarising comment that would have started a small shitstorm and contributed to more unsubscribing. The delete function is invaluable!
Love the post, by the way. I give it a hearty Amen too. I'll chime in again if I can come up with non-shitstorm commentary.
Thanks, my friend. I did see your comment before you deleted it but didn't get a chance to say Amen!
For what it's worth, it is free subscribers who are running for cover (for now). I wonder how many paying folks would've been offended by your comment which, for the record, seemed like a fair observation to me!
Thanks! I reconsidered because it seemed like beating a dead horse. For me, at the moment, it's time to move past feeling of betrayal, however justified they may be. Bitterness and resentment tend to inflict handicaps, sometimes quite badly.
I couldn't agree more and feel myself moving in that direction. I've said plenty lately (in articles and podcasts) about the state of "activism" on ALL points of the ideological spectrum. With today's post serving as the exclamation point, perhaps I've said enough.
Next week, I could write a post that says: vaccines are deadly, they want us to eat bugs, climate change is a hoax, and drag should be banned. I'd get a flood of new subscribers to replace those who left today!
*lol* Love this, Mickey. Thank you for continually challenging us to do better, to be better.
If it’s any consolation, my most popular post (https://margaretannaalice.substack.com/p/50-reasons-to-give-your-child-the) triggered the most people along with a flood of unsubscribes. It was a lesson to not judge an article by its headline and to always keep our sense of humor about us, no matter how dark the world gets.
Thank you, Teresa. I appreciate your support and your well-stated (as usual) reply. 🙏
I'm deeply flattered by such generous sentiments, TL, but please do not downplay your role on Substack. We need YOUR mind and voice just as much!
"Free (from reality) Thinkers" LOL!
Also free from accountability for spewing delusional nonsense.
Amen! 🙏

Thanks, Malika. But I'm not surprised.

Like conducting an orchestra!🪄
Precisely! When we really need some kind of improvisational punk rock/jazz combo.

I stand in awe at your fluency in the language of emoji.

Thank you, MAA! And wow, a big amen to those lessons... 🙏
