Yes, so lucky to have had a Father showing you what being a man is. Protecting the girls/women & standing up to bullies. Doing what’s right, but never backing down or showing weakness. Some of us never had this. A lot of us. How I wish & dream of having a childhood where I was the apple of my Father’s eye. Two parents who knew their roles, never apologized for that, & always loved their children. Holding the family together through the years, no matter what happens. I never had this. It’s a true gift. I enjoyed reading this short story of your experience. Can’t help but be a lil’ jealous though. Thanks for sharing!

I love my father and mother and brothers and sisters and aunts and uncles… and our Father in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven (“Come quickly Lord Jesus”). Please give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses (sins), as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation (a courtroom where we are judged), but deliver us from evil (from the accuser of the brethren- the prosecuting attorney-which is Satan). For Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever, AMEN 🙏🏽 .”
I had a wonderful dad too, we lost our mom when I was 10 and my sister war 12, my dad stepped up and became mom and dad. He worked everyday and he kept us from harm, we never went without. As a teen I was a little bratty and I enjoyed being with friends, he would whistle at 9pm and I better be home, he could whistle loud, I was always home on time. I lost my dad New Years eve 1980, he was 67 and he died from a massive heart attack, I believe his heart broke when my mom died in 1962, she was only 42 at the time. Anyways, thank you for your post, it made me remember my dad and my past with him. I wish every kid had a dad like yours and mine.

I had a family like Micky Z’s story and I’m so thankful that my parents held our family together despite my Vietnam vet dad becoming an alcoholic and some very hard times. Only because my mom became a believer in Jesus Christ as savior and friend and Lord was she able to hold on through many years of turmoil. Through it all, we all came out of the bad years of angst still together loving each other , and dad finally sober again. He was an amazing father before the alcohol addiction and after. He was a man you could not help but respect and love.
Thats great, Im glad your dad sobered up. We are all Roman Catholic and we attended church every Sunday, so God is a huge presence in my life today thanks to my upbringing by my dad.
I'm grateful to Dr Paul for posting this so that I could read this account of both your fathers - your earthly and your heavenly father.
I was just talking today about how blessed I've been to have always known God's protection and love, and I've commented many times here on SS how sorry I am that more people have not known this love, have not felt this incredible love from their Creator.
And you are so right to show how our fathers in the flesh can mirror God the Father's love for us.
If we are lucky enough to have our physical Dads in our lives.
So many have not and do not, especially now.
I had a wonderful father and a wonderful grandfather, and it is only in the last four years I've been able to really appreciate my father's politics and his Catholicism - though he's been gone 25 years, somehow it's been his gifts to me and the constant communication with Jehovah that are getting me through these days.
