Reed's analysis is rigorous. It cuts through the emotionalism and bad faith that attend any indentitarian psychodrama. It also cleanly exposes the social capital aspect, and the ambitious control-freaking that goes with it. Bluntly, at risk of reductionism, there's a jobs program and status in this for mediocre PMCs.

I think the compassionate thing here is to help people who feel dreadfully uncomfortable in their own skin. It's not an unusual affliction and it's made much worse by advertising, among other plagues. But that help has to come without doing effectively the same thing as giving liquor to an alcoholic.

Yep, Reed's article is a must-read!

And yes, mentally ill people deserve compassion and real help. Thank you, James.

What was most important in the Dolezal situation was that she worked very hard at her job, and believed with her whole heart in what she was doing. Yet, because she didn’t have the required single drop of blood 🩸they kicked her out of the club. Jenner didn’t do anything positive for women, in fact he has created terrible consequence for the young women in sports who are now competing against men. It’s criminal, in my opinion, what trans has done to all young people.

Thank you, George. I fully and heartily agree that the trans agenda is a crime.

Thank you for putting this so succinctly. It’s as if life went upside down and inside out, slowly encroaching and then bamm! Of being red pilled, blue pilled or maybe even some people got purple pilled because they just can’t or don’t want to see the world as it really is now. Which is to say, what more people need to do is stand up and say what they believe in on what is going on, which, is a lot. You’re making a difference here and many of us appreciate it!

totally agree. The whole trans movement (of mentally ill people) damages the real lesbian, gay and even the few real trans people. The only one I know was a Yaqui man, in his thirties, and all, lesbian gay and trans, knew from early on they were that way - you do not become lesbian, gay or trans listening to tiktok or facebook. And the real ones do not mind questions at all. I regularly ask a homo friend about it and he will answer honestly, although he usually is very quiet about it. I have known quite a few, and even laughingly asked a lesbian colleague, shortly after my divorce, whether she thought I was one. She laught out loud and said - no, you are very much a man's woman. Obviously they can tell LOL

Thank you for the introduction to Professor Reed!!! A most helpful articulation of the inconsistencies and slippery language which have been deployed to obfuscate the real threats and damage of the neoliberal politics. I look forward to filling in more gaps left by my Ivy league liberal arts college education.

Just printed out Reed's article to read on the subway. This is a great post, and I thank you for being out in front on this issue, totally in touch with the misogyny at its roots. Women have tremendous power to re-shape the world, and it seems to me this was, among other things, a brilliant way of derailing the progress we've made over the past several decades. The mother of all wrenches thrown into the works!

Thank YOU, Anne...for your vocal opposition to this "wrench" and for taking the time to read my post. I nodded along to your entire comment.
