I can present them with indisputable proof and it only makes them more committed to the dishonest talking points. Typically, they're people who "believe in science" and have university education. They treat the indisputable proof as proof that I'm a right wing goon. The ones with the graduate degrees are the absolute worst. They have a capacity for doublethink that's astonishing.

Now that I reflect, I think the astonishment is a way to avoid, or short circuit, a feeling of betrayal. I expected better from them.
