These critical looks at activism are valuable. There are so many pitfalls, and good intentions can't really prepare anyone for them. People need some basic street smarts, just to start.

Thank you, James, for recognizing that I'm not just venting. A group of people who'd never imagine seeing themselves as "activists" came to the forefront 3.5 years ago. It's been so disheartening to watch most of them fall prey to the same avoidable pitfalls I witnessed firsthand.

And yes, street smarts is an excellent starting point for virtually any venture.

we have a no-kill shelter in town. all they do is take them to the next town over where they get killed anyway. the shelter here runs on volunteers and has a small choice and very short opening hours. My dog comes from a farm and the cats are home-made LOL, which can no longer happen, everyone had surgery. So if they pass, I will take in another 'accidental' pup or kitty.

As to the kiss - glad you found out even the greatest could not always resist !

Bless you for caring for our non-human friends, Ingrid, and for not judging me for that kiss! 😘

"Put me on a stage, hand me a microphone, and place a big crowd in front of me — and I will motivate people by rocking the house." - pure gold - As you say, keeping the ego out of it is the big challenge. Love your connection with George Bailey - everything we are seeing now is in that movie - Potter is swaggering and squeezing vise-like everywhere.... It's up to the Bailey's to bring heart and soul to this wonderful life - thanks Mickey for your inspiration!

Thank you, Will, for catching that line in particular. For me, it was meant to convey how tricky it is to walk the walk without becoming an "entertainer." I've failed plenty of times but I will never stop trying to learn.

And yes to George Bailey. I've always loved that film. As the years and decades have passed, it has become my personal favorite. How about you?

Yes, Mickey, I would say that film is also one of my small handful of all-time favorites. Also love Brother Sun Sister Moon and The Beautiful Green, and of course all those films you starred in as well!
