As reported by Reclaim the Net, a very recent study analyzed 90,000 episodes of different podcasts and found that Spotify was recommending around 14 percent of podcasts.
For the record, I'm not necessarily looking for "heroes" and yes, I would never trust Spotify or any corporation.
What I find fascinating is how many people are being labeled controlled opposition, e.g. Rogan, RFK, Jr., Mattias Desmet, even Vandana Shiva. What's the point or goal here?
I saw your post but I feel you're mischaracterizing my perspective, e.g. "not seeing the value."
To me, there's a fine line between keeping your guard up and self-sabotaging. Plus, you can learn something from controlled opposition without becoming suckered by them.
I can't go into detail now but briefly: It can be self-sabotage to shut down someone who is sincerely helping because we've become so suspicious that all such offers of help are part of a scheme.
As for learning from others, let's stick with Rogan as an example. If he is actually "working for the other side," I can still garner valuable info from his guests (as I have).
I wouldn't be surprised. Rogan got on their bad side with some of his straight talk podcasts. They don't want to risk a bigger audience. The oligarch class is (needless to say) intensely interested in maintaining the existing set of class relations, and expanding their power within it. They'll sacrifice some potential wealth in that cause. Sometimes they'll sacrifice a lot and do reckless things. They expect to recoup when the political crisis concludes.
I hear you and agree, James. I will be watching with interest to see how Rogan responds as they increase the pressure. Based on his response when the whole Neil Young nonsense happened, my guess is that Rogan will cave and shift the guests and topics on his show. I hope I'm wrong. He should've grabbed the Rumble offer when they made it.
I listened to his talk with Meta Mark, until they started to talk about the FBI and the Hunter Biden issue. Joe sounded neutered, compared to his talk with Dr Malone. I couldn't listen any more.
If he wants to make a difference he now has to leave..... he made waves with Malone but now he is tame.....so he needs to move and speak his mind........truth over profits......#letsgojoe......
Regardless, he still had people think differently from the narrative, that's what I was talking about........ that episode made people take notice that was the important part..... and to clarify, I was talking about Rogan, specifically.... he has a massive audience and it would be great if he was on a platform where he didn't have to self-censor..... I am aware of the Malone theories but I don't really have an opinion...I have heard of a lot of others that are controlled opposition, too and I realize it complicates things and I wish this wasn't the case......

Exactly.....great point.....

Media manipulation has become so extreme; I hope people start boycotting Spotify and jump on over to Mickey Z on Substack!
Thank you, Will...may you speak it into existence!

Maybe Spotify realized that since Rogan started self-censoring he's not worth much for their revenue stream.
That sounds like a possibility but he remains a major source of revenue for them - although I see he just lost his top spot: https://variety.com/2022/digital/news/meghan-markle-podcast-no-1-spotify-charts-1235350992
