Memes, by the way, appear to be effective at getting past the angry defences that come from cognitive dissonance. The funnier they are, the better. They can let people reevaluate with a smile or a laugh, instead of hostility and status panic. Nice selection!

While we can live happily without social media, humorous and humane posts such as yours argue a case for the platform. Thank you!

Fun memes :-)! Interesting to consider how much forested land globally has been cleared for the purposes of animal ag through the ages - to graze them, to grow their food, to house them. Sentient Media recently did a good analysis of it https://sentientmedia.org/how-does-agriculture-cause-deforestation/

I definitely would find it difficult to eat grass, no argument there. Instead I enjoy nuts and seeds, fruit, veggies, leafy greens, and legumes. It's not difficult for me to be a herbivore. The amount of soybeans and corn I consume is minuscule compared to the amount that is fed to the billions of farmed animals who are brought into this world only to eventually become "food." And yes, many animals could eat grass, but If we try to put 70 billion land animals a year out to pasture, that will require the clearing of even MORE land. Many wild animals suffer when we clear land for agriculture. And when their homelands are destroyed and they naturally shift their attention to the grazing animals, they are hunted and killed. None of this pain and suffering is necessary when we choose to just eat plants.

No need to argue, Susan, we're grown ups having a conversation about something we disagree about. That's a healthy thing for intelligent humans to do. It's how we learn and grow.

If you care to investigate my claims ... I source most of my information from vegan doctors like Dr. Neal Barnard (PCRM.org), Dr. Michael Greger (NutritionFact.org), Nutritionists like Virginia Messina (https://vegan.com/health/nutrition/) and BrendaDavis (https://brendadavisrd.com), news organizations like Sentient Media (https://sentientmedia.org) and Plant Based News (https://plantbasednews.org), individuals like Earthling Ed (https://earthlinged.org), Will Tuttle (http://www.worldpeacediet.com), and Sarina Farb (https://www.bornvegan.org), documentaries like Forks Over Knives, Earthlings, Dominion, Violated, GameChangers, and many many other places including 23 years of personal experience as a healthy pharma-free vegan elder.

Much good luck to you on your journey, Susan, thanks for inviting this conversation.
