Well, first thing in the morning to be open and available to such horror and atrocity is somewhat of a downer. So much to dispair over these days management of mood is becoming necessary

Thanks for clarifying and I concur: mood management is critical.

For the record, I view information like this to be empowering and motivating. I want to know what really happened. I gain energy from releasing myself from myths, narratives, and hive minds.

Mickey , since you might read my comment ...

As a person interested in “Woke” impacts on society and such I would like to bring your attention to my experience.

I developed what I consider a deep practice of exploration of movement as a means of consciousness. I don’t think I was the only one , that something was happening with movement inspired dance, particularly in cosmopolitan populations . My explorations were helped by the fact I came in to money and had the time and space to live it for a few years.

At some point the ideas that were opening to me and because of the phenomena I was experiencing I had an urge to explore movement practices of mystical schools. I learned quite quickly that my explorations meant I could leap frog much of the teaching and have a direct discussion with the teachers about the more fundamental aspects of these practices . (This story can become too detailed without actually getting to the meat of what I wish to impart )

Because I was not really interested in becoming a disciple of one mode of conscious movement I was lead to conscious movement ( ecstatic dance , and subsequently to Contact improvisational dance . I was searching for what I was doing in what was or has been done , basically .

Contact dance is post post modern. And what is interesting about it is that it is more a social interaction and self development dance then performative. It has this quality of conscious development to it , with a kind of openness and risk .

I found it to be most representative of the manifestations of consciousness that comes out of cosmopolitanism. It also seems very much to reflect the “I in us” thing that Rudolph Steiner stated this epoch was about . In fact I think I’d point to the improvisational arts to be a gross reflection of this .

The communities of contact improv that regularly do this are of a high proportion of academics and people that work in social facilitation. This is a vulnerable social dance practice . And it is interesting how that practice space is held , taught, and engaged . Because mostly these are “jams” where dancers practice with one another without direction . In fact it’s done primarily with no music.

The humanity and ways in which the communities members communicate really stood out to me and offered so much hope for humanity .

Then came the “woke” thing, first through the me too movement. And then it became entirely dominated by these ideas that resulted in the way the space and community were open to conscious development to be arrested closer and stagnant .

The notion of absolute safety as desired and sought by certain people that impose this upon everyone limits access to the places where conscious development grows. It happens at the margins , the uncomfortable places, and in the caos .

Thank you for sharing your journey and quest. The comments I read in Substack are often so compelling and useful while navigating my way through this land of make believe. You may want to explore the purification space facilitated by Jacqueline-Faye Hobbs who refers to herself as Oracle Girl. I don’t share this with too many others but was move to upon reading what you wrote. https://www.oraclegirl.org/

Thank you for this share! Do you recommend a particular contact &/or improv dance practice and/or teacher/school? Ie, 5 rythyms, etc? I've been feeling drawn to this pratice for some time; improv in other creative expressions is a part of my life. Thanks for any additional input or none at all. All good, either way! :)

Sure thing . I believe the New York CI community is robust . I recommend to simply find where the open jams are and show up curious and open. I tend to not seek direction so much , but people there are very inclusive and helpful . That is the case all over the world with this form. It’s an intimate and vulnerable dance form so the people hold it in a kind .

Earthdance in mass. Is like Mecca for contact dance snd I would highly recommend attending their events . Good people good food great price !

Good luck

For me the importance centers on the absence of teaching this versus the constant bombardment of Critical Race conspiracy Theory. I get it, slavey bad and racisim bad. Meanwhile the military industrial complex marches on though a proxy war that is close to setting off WW3. Meanwhile CRT is more important to the pickled brain masses.

To my shame, I would likely have cheered on the bombing of the Iraqis at the time, as I was seeing it through "military" eyes, but not understanding the reality of what was happening.

Unfortunately, I've recently become aware that the West has previous form on such atrocities.

Maybe I am beginning to understand why some of the Arab world seems to hate America with such passion.

Recent events in Europe and Ukraine suggest that the suffering and body count is irrelevant in REGARDS to what the US / UK / EU / NATO wants.

During World War Two, the fire bombing of Dresden was undoubtedly a war crime, up there with the very worst of them.

The photographs and stories from the time are utterly heartbreaking.

We joined forces with Stalin, who appears to have been one of the most evil men of all time and with a body count in the tens of millions.

We also happily ignored the wholesale slaughter of "other" civilians, such as the Danzig and Bromberg massacres, if it was being done by our current allies.

Massacres, that appear to be the final violent spark that ignited WW2.

Realising that most of what you thought you "really knew", may have never been and you begin to see the lies for what they always were.

I'm constantly having to check that I haven't just lost the plot, especially as almost no-one else nearby seems to be awake, or even want to be.

I was in Dresden with my choir in the early 90s, and all that, and this, breaks my heart. Fish in a barrel, indeed. ~~~ I read a lot of historical fiction, and Holocaust stories to keep perspective and to remind me, what was not that long ago. Our two buses sat at the Czech border, and I imagined all those people straining to say good bye, the guard towers leaning overhead. All so sickening ~~~ Our overlords, now dressed up and quaffing liquors, stretched out on velvet couches….oh, and Pfizer planning the next campaign, paying for the Super Bowl extravanganzas. Before and after, one assumes. ~~~ So many words in the dictionaries, so many words said by CNN, the Washington Post, and by Hillary Clinton, “What does it matter?” Is that her memorable spew? And what’s his name on CNN, wishing that the far right would find their conscience?!! Beam me up, Scotty ! ~~~What’s so tragic is the number of suicides, border patrol, young people, who can’t wait another half hour to believe a better life might be ahead. We are so so sorry. Keep fighting, parents, police, doctors and nurses! We are seeing the light Amen and amen

I remember feeling a deep sadness and feeling that we were...I don’t even know how to phrase it. We were wrong. I saw the videos from the fighters and the monotone conversations between the the pilots and command as they killed one person after another for no apparent reason. It had faded to a dark corner of my mind until now.

We stopped being the good guys a long, long time ago. And I believe, without fear, that God has not been on our side for a long, long time. As I have said before, I used to think heaven was going to be a crowded place...

I am heartened to hear that the US military is currently facing a "recruitment crisis". Hopefully people are waking up to the fact that soldiers are nothing more than stooges for the govt to do its dirty work. The military has nothing to do with the propagandized sentiment "fighting for our freedom". It's harsh to say this, but perhaps soldiers have been duped to perform heinous crimes under the guise of "freedom". The government just sits back and basks in the carnage - they technically don't have blood on their karma since they didn't perform the ACT of murdering innocent people. Do we really think the sociopaths running our government care if people are murdered or if cities are destroyed? They live in a posh bubble and feign outrage at the atrocities. I can see why so many military personnel develop depression/suicide/substance abuse - they have a guilty conscience. They willingly slaughtered innocent people and decimated infrastructure. They blindly "followed orders" out of fear and selfishness - only thinking about the possibility of court martial or losing their pensions, etc. I'm ashamed to admit that, at that time, I would have blindly followed orders, too because it would have been the easy way out (in the short term). This is harsh, but in order to upright this sinking ship we need to face reality.

Who is more culpable - the order giver or the person who pulls the trigger? Who are the true terrorists of this world: governments who are all working in cahoots and are funding both sides of illegal wars or some guys in the Middle East living in caves who have a justifiable beef with the US (who have also been funded by the US)?? What would happen if we let our conscience lead us instead of fear? What would have happened if soldiers did the courageous act and said NO to the slaughter of innocent lives? Doing what's wrong is easy, doing what's morally right is hard.

This may be a crazy analogy, but I now see the "elites" as being like the character "Mr. Slugworth" in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or "Satan" in the Book of Job - they are necessary adversaries playing their role to test us and to build our moral character. Just as in these 2 examples, the adversary is always under the control of the Creator. That is why it is the "collective WE" that actually PERFORMS the heinous acts and NOT the "Elites". We were given FREE WILL to choose right from wrong.

I hear you. I believe we have been given free will but most of us should have went for seconds when they were handing out discernment!

Thanx for pointing out what I call, "the tuna in a barrel" shoot; or how/why I don't call this a USA victory in a war. The US's last win: WW II. It was a good way for the US to expend some of its excess NATO inventory, because, concurrently, the Cold War had just ended with Soviet Russia. Hmmm...what do 'we' do with all this war materiel left over from the excesses of the Cold War? Answer: Stop our former ally, Saddam Hussein's attack in Kuwait, protesting Israel's treatment of the Palestinians.

And like Ukraine it could have benefited from, oh...um, Peace Talks! What an unknown concept in the US's lexicon of policy.

I had to open my eyes, so to speak, by a boatload of specific reading during the 20-teens(2014-2021). Like about 300 books, at least. It's there if one wants to open their eyes. Also required is a lot of "inner work", to rid oneself of years of capitalist indoctrination. Sadly now, my health is failing and my chief reading days are over. Getting cancelled from Medium took 4 1/2 years of writings away and the wind from my sails. I just hit 69 and highly doubt that I make it to 70. I do though, enjoy your writings, Mickey, which I now have to go to Substack to access. Mysteriously, most of my email feeds have vanished--like Substack feeds, for example.

how people still can want war is beyond me. battlefields have always been awful but this beats them all. and now there is Ukraine where people from the same country are murdering each other. In a next life I don't think I want to be a human. May be a dog, or a cat. Animals can be 'cruel' too, but I don't think they enjoy it like some humans seem to do. Oh, all the poor kitties I have known. Dumped, frightened, too scared to even come close for fear of what a human being might do. One March day when the snow was deep in the woods my partner looked out and said, "There's a cat out there!" Later when I was on my way to visit my horse, I saw him by the side of the road and picked him up. He was terrified of getting into my truck, but I brought him back to the house, and he was so happy! I named him Leonardo (for bravery) and he lived here until his death, but he hated going anywhere, terrified he was going to be dumped (he'd shit himself whenever he had to go to the vet). He had obviously been well-loved and cared-for, accustomed to sitting on his chair at the table for dinner, but his person probably died and the "loving children" dumped him. Nothing like living on a rural road to find out how many cats are abandoned. My only cat right now was dumped when she was eight weeks old.

Expand full comment

my cats started out feral, the house we bought was empty for years and there were 7. At first we couldn't care for them as we were truckers. Then we started feeding them, they had babies, and now there are 2, both sterile, outside, and one dog inside. What you had sounds indeed like abandoned house cats. Mine used to run all over the place, but once done with babies, they become a lot more home bound. The male had a stroke 2 years ago and can no longer climb trees, for the rest he copes pretty well. I don't know what I will do if they pass (one male passed away last month)

Expand full comment

My sympathies are with you. Our last two male cats died at home, but we had adopted a kitten (to keep dumped kitten company) at the humane society. Our holistic vet said, "Hmmm, it will be interesting to compare their health" since the one from the humane society had had every treatment known to man, including being spayed when she was so tiny. She was dead by the age of three with lower-spine paralysis while dumped kitten is going on 13 and very healthy (holistic vet: one vaccine at a time, allow clearance before another vaccine, only minimal vaccination).

I'm on Chapter 4 of the first volume of One Nation Under Blackmail, or more aptly titled One Nation Under Sleaze. I am not joking when I say this is the dirtiest book I have ever read, but it explains everything about the United States, especially post-WWII. The incestuous, interlocking web of state security, business, and organized crime tells us everything we need to know, including how so many drugs get into the country, the bloated stock market, why so many dirty players get away with so much dirt and no consequences. One cannot possibly keep all the players and plays straight -- I picture Whitney Webb with a gargantuan flow chart -- but it doesn't matter. When you understand how deeply involved organized crime is in the weapons industry, you'll never be surprised by anything again.

Whitney Webb. You can find a short interview with her by Russell Brand (the only person in the world who talks faster than Russell Brand) on youtube.
