This is Mark 7:31-35:

Then Jesus left the vicinity of Tyre and went through Sidon, down to the Sea of Galilee, and into the region of the Decapolis. There some people brought to him a man who was deaf and could hardly talk, and they begged Jesus to place his hand on him.

After he took him aside, away from the crowd, Jesus put his fingers into the man’s ears. Then he spit and touched the man’s tongue. He looked up to heaven and with a deep sigh said to him, “Ephphatha!” (which means “Be opened!”). At this, the man’s ears were opened, his tongue was loosened and he began to speak plainly.

When the Son of God commands us to be opened, He is imploring us to use our gifts to see and hear not with pride and fear but with wisdom and discernment.

As displayed in the beautiful 2-minute video below, you can sense more than you’ve ever imagined when you become opened. You can do more than you’ve ever imagined.

We will not vote our way back to the garden. It will not happen thanks to flame wars, ossified opinions, or social media metrics. The path, as always, becomes clear once we recognize that we’ve had the power all along.

Every time you’re tempted to judge others and/or put a so-called “leader” on the throne, remember Jesus’s command: Be opened.

When you have eyes to see and ears to hear, the algorithmic echo chambers are rendered impotent. Hive minds are laughably obvious to anyone behaving like the fearfully and wonderfully being they were created to be.

It’s time to do a new thing…
