Hi Mickey, Thanks for all you do at the Grass Roots level and you do it with such a light and getting heart. I'm grateful to help out and some small ways. I donate all my good second hand stuff to a very small thrift store down the street that helps support keeping people in their homes so they don't go homeless. I also helped my brother as long as I could. I even bought him a used SUV although it was before he admitted he was homeless or I would have made the point of getting him a small truck. After that he rather flamed out on me and didn't want to hear from me again. He found all new places to hang out so I wouldn't find him which was fine because that's what he wants I want to respect it. I should add that this came after our homeless sister committed suicide from a drug overdose because she couldn't take her life anymore. I didn't realize how close they were until he and I got close. I think he just has to deal with things in his own way to try to hold it together. But he has been homeless for decades and is in his '60s now and it would be nice to know he's ok. I know homelessness touches everyone's family or friends these days so it's nice to know there's a good Samaritan out there maybe helping my brother too.
Whew...that last thought of yours reduced me to tears, Elise. I can imagine how the "not knowing" is so tough. But I feel certain that your brother has benefitted from the kindness of others. In the 7 years I've been doing this project, I have crossed paths with such generous souls with hearts filled with the spirit of giving. I will pray for your brother, my friend.
Also, thank YOU for your ongoing support. It is people like you who empower me. 🙏
Thank you for the shared moment even though we are a continent apart. I said some tears when I wrote it myself. Harris never far from my heart and I so value what you are doing.
Mickey, you do more than the NGOs. They do have some good people, but the organizations are not geared towards providing dignity and grace and, most of all, human warmth to their putative beneficiaries. For those things, one needs a vocation. And you have that.
Your generous words are humbling, my friend. Thank you. 🙏 Plus, I must always clarify: I'm able to pursue this vocation thanks to the support of kind souls like you.
I love these updates, Mickey. Happy to send support! ❤️
You rock, Claire...thank you! ❤️
