I first learned about this history when I visited Alcatraz in 1994. There were still some graffiti left from the Native American protest. This was a good reminder.
One movie you didn’t mention was The Rock with Sean Connery. That was a good one. I think it came out in the 90s?
Thanks for that story ! IN Europe that story must have had little coverage, or maybe I was too busy being a kid! I saw the 2 old movies but not The Rock I think. And with Connery ! I have to look that up. It is unimaginable what has happened to the native american people. The govt puts its nose in whatever goes on in other countries but like at this awful treatment - the very people who helped the first settlers servive, were then chased off their land and killed and persecuted in all possible ways.
Which makes me realize, that is what happened to unjabbed doctors and nurses.... treated like criminals where they were in fact the heroes. Sometimes I am ashamed to be white.
yes, that is true. But it always looked to me in our history lessons and later on, that white people always seem to have to force their religion, habits, clothes etc on others. May be it is a white imprint ! And yes, the chinese are internating their minorities in camps. And what happened in Myanmar with people of the same race but different religion... yes you are right.
ALL civilizations are brutal because in order to support urbanization / hierarchy, you must take over more land to feed the urbanites, then you need slaves to work the land, then you need a military to grab more land and more slaves. And, remember, EIGHTY-EIGHT civilizations collapsed between the years 3000 BCE and 1000 CE because collapse is inevitable.
You're one day early, my friend! I am posting this tomorrow - along with some ugly truths about Burroughs and his ilk.
Happy Un-Thanksgiving and Un-Christmas to you, too!
Indeed.

That's because the Aztecs were a CIVILIZATION.

You're welcome, Ingrid, and Happy un-Thanksgiving to you!
