To paraphrase MacPherson's Law...if people are faced with two conflicting causes to support, and one of them is the rights of women, the rights of women will always lose.

How I wish this wasn't true but you just articulated why I so often focus on this ongoing crisis. Thank you.

Well balanced essay. Thank you for writing and posting.

Thank YOU for being open to it!

I have not understood since the beginning why it is so difficult for many people to both condemn the attacks by Hamas while simultaneously condeming the indiscriminate slaughter of Palestinians that is now following in the wake of it...

Indeed the “machine” likes its subjects to take sides!

Yep, you might even call it "life blood" for the vampires.

Amy, your comment sums up how successful the parasites have been in draining our humanity. Fortunately, it takes only one second for any individual to reverse course and reclaim autonomy.

“Something to be condemned by anyone who wishes to maintain their soul”. Sums it up.

Hamas is accused of rape, however it's Israel who has the history of violent sexual crimes and they've been getting away with it for years

If you read more carefully, you'd recognize that my post is about ALL the nations and militias that have committed sexual violence and gotten away with it.

I'm curious, though: Do you use clever [sic] nicknames for all the other war crime-committing nations or do you reserve your wrath for only one?

Do you trust that Hamas is the one of the few - if not the first - group of armed militia men who didn't opt to assault women and girls?

Again, my post is about a historical, ongoing trend. Your attempt to narrow the focus is disheartening.

Excellent and profoundly written essay. "Taking compassionate, ongoing action right where we are"...this speaks to me as a giant step in the direction of Light. Thanks for this!

and if you are a raped woman in a muslim country it is your fault. I remember an awful story of a 3 year old girl that was killed because she was a whore. Not saying others are not just as bad. Obviously lots of barbarians. I also remember a saying from Jung, that humans seem to be civilized but that their minds are still stone age (or something of the kind - been a while). we just had a discussion of this kind on another Substack, and I was advized to read Ischmael, by D Quinn, which I found as a free download. I hope I will be able to read all this interesting stuff before my time is up !

I hear you, Ingrid. It can be horrendous for females in some of the repressive Muslim countries but, let’s be clear…women are blamed or not believed all over the world.

P.S. I read “Ishmael” many years ago but I vaguely remember having trouble getting past the talking gorilla idea.

that is where I am LOL. I will let you know when I am through. The conversation was on a Substack by Paulo Kirk, Thought, Language, Tone, and Body Language Police jackbooted in a Crumbling and Broken America. He poned that everything is politics, to which I responded then we have to go back in time to chimpanzees and bonobos (the first warmongers, the second peacekeepers)... and then came that title LOL. little did I know it was about a gorilla!

Most of the "Oct 7" atrocity allegations, including those of beheaded babies and rape, have been walked back

(Vanessa Beeley, lives in Syria, quite credible on the Middle east)

and lack credible evidence:

Note that I'm not addressing your universal contention. Just the particular because I think it's important to not take US/Israel allegations at face value in this context.

Thank you, Lorie. Much appreciated.

For the record, I'm wary of all propaganda but I'm also quite wary when any form of power is assumed to not commit atrocities or not practice sophisticated propaganda.

In this instance, I regret trying to tie this post to current events. I feared the ages-old message might get lost in the fervor of present events. I'll not do this again.

these current events are extremely important in large part because US billions are being used to aid this genocide of a people. Just as with billions going to Ukraine, I'm fking fed up. So I look more closely at propaganda that attempts to justify that sht than propaganda that does not.

and not to hijack the thread, but Beeley has reported that some of the weaponry used in Gaza is brand new, causes injuries never before seen. It's a testing ground for Raytheon & lockheed martin. If it's used in Gaza, it will be used elsewhere. Do I know that? No. of course not. but.....keep yer guard up as you say.
