Thank you, TL. And yes...I can sadly but easily imagine mass, targeted murders all throughout human history - recorded or not.

I respect any group's insistence on their suffering never being forgotten or downplayed. But, at the same time and as you point out, I see it as pure evil when anyone insists on ranking their pain as the standard bearer.

It's telling that this comment would be widely viewed as a sign of bigotry.

Back in the day, on leftist sites, I'd sometimes write about Israeli policies and I definitely got noticed (both good and bad) for it!

Yep, as I've learned in all my years of writing and speaking, any reporting of that certain small ME country's behavior will get you slandered with a certain label.

Also, (it must be coincidence), it seems many Armenians (at least in U.S.), were at least mildly "pro-Russia" during the recent war between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Several I spoke with in California were disappointed Russia didn't get more involved helping them in the conflict.

That's an interesting angle I hadn't factored in, Howard. In the inhuman realm of geo-politics, it might be playing a role.

do you think he was ever awake. We now understand why trump called him sleepy joe. He is only awake when there is ice cream, or the smell of a girl. Asking that man to do something is useless. He does not even realize he is alive, I suppose.

What is it about Armenia? They've had one of the harder times in the last couple of centuries, yet I barely ever have heard or learned anything about them. Why do folks want them destroyed?

Even though the picture you posted of Biden was less slack jawed than per usual, demand of he is preposterous. imho. Tho' your devoted desire is Admirable.

I understand but I trust it's clear that I'm not insinuating that Biden is making any major decisions anyway.

Since it only take about 2-3 minutes to send letters to elected officials, I'm suggesting it as part of a much larger, much-needed awakening.

Again Mick, Your Desire To Assist the downtrodden is Noble. imho, & "what do I know?" as a quotable frame of reference, all i can offer is a mere opinion. We may be at a time where reaching out to elected officials is over. Clearly, in my eyes, a war, on multiple fronts, is being waged. You have a long history of organizational, advocacy, & bravery skills. You must (ch typo) choose how to use them, which you obviously are. No one wants to see you miss the forest for a single tree. I am not arguing against your methodology. You are kind hearted. This i know. PEACE ! Bro !

Indeed. I've written tens of thousands of words critiquing what passes as "activism." But, to focus on the call to action is to ignore the larger purpose of and need for this post.

Virtually NO ONE is talking about an ongoing genocide. My hope is that folks would read this post, feel profound anger/sadness/outrage, and (if nothing else), share, spread the word, pray, or best of all: start making bigger connections.

Thank you, Mickey Z, for sounding the alarm and standing on the right side of history. Your articles are consistently righteous and this post has special meaning as yours truly is of Armenian ancestry. Armenia has always been the battlefield/prize for competing empires (E-W). It's a captive nation under Russia's thumb but without the expected protection. I think some big guns would like to see all of Armenia absorbed (conquered) by Az/Turkey thus wrested away from the Russian orbit but still hope against hope that the Western powers will consider that Christian Armenia is a far more reliable than the surrounding oil/gas/caviar rich dictatorships have been. Yes, Paul, Biden is senile AND sociopathic AND more often the problem than the solution. Even so, I believe American citizens must still use their constitutional rights no matter how misused, mocked and weak these days. None of us should lay down the die. GRATITUDE.

When I was at Cooper Union, we would lease The Great Hall and gallery to a group commemorating the genocide each year. Horrible history.

to the East. Turkey is rich in early Christian history and archaeology and in natural resources including the largest oil field ever discovered in Hatay province near Syria. It had just become operational when the earthquake damaged it...

Yes, thanks Mickey - the Armenians have suffered terribly at the hands of the Turks and Azerbaijanis - when I visited Armenia back in 1990, they explained everything to me and took me to the border or Turkey and Mt. Ararat in the distance, which they said was actually on their native soil. I was there on a citizen diplomacy concert tour and fell in love with the people in Yerevan and other cities I visited. I hadn't even heard about this - thanks!
