Nice eye. It is lovely to find beauty in the urban landscape.

My dad is a photographer. I always had a camera, but never really developed the skill. I had a high bar to meet!

Thank you, Jaye! I adore taking photos and one of my books is a collection.

How often do you break out your camera? 🙂

I use my phone now.

When the transition to digital was happening, I was in the throes of motherhood and, due to my husband's work, moving, with all its inherent disruption. I am not sure I've ever taken a good digital photo with a real camera.

I recently found several rolls of exposed, undeveloped film...

Interesting this should come up now, though, as I was looking at our dusty Sony the other day and was wondering if it might be time to revisit this.

My father, at 88, still never travels without a camera.

I also use a phone now. I have had only one really camera. Someone from Occupy passed it down to me and eventually, it died. The images in this post are mostly via phone or a tiny Sony Cybershot I also once had!

That's awesome about your Dad and I hope you exposed those rolls you found!

I haven't developed them yet, but I am pretty sure Dad will keep after me until I do!

Ahhhh June Bugs, I really don’t miss those out here in the high desert lol. But I do miss Cardinals and Mockingbirds as they are not native to this area. They are beloved sounds I listen for when we visit back east. ❤️

What creatures do you often see where you are?

Expand full comment

Mule Deer, Elk, Fox, Bald Eagles, Golden Eagles, Prairie Dogs, Rattlesnakes, Magpie, Pelican, Canadian Geese, Swans, and we once had a Moose in town! ❤️

Whoa...awesome list! We have Canadian Geese and Swans here, too.

I've seen pelicans up close in Florida, magpies in Texas, and even though I was in moose country in Vermont, I didn't get to see one.

Thank you, as always, my friend! I can't imagine what creatures you encounter on a regular basis in NZ.

I’m a former NYer…Bronx girl..I remember a vacant lot next to my Grandmas tiny apt building..and we used to find sequins and all sorts of beads..we belived it was magical.what was it..it was the dumped trash from one of the many sewing factories that operated under the El structure. Kids are humble. Blessings Mickey.🍄
