When migrants & homeless people are the topic, the hypocrites come out of the woodwork
(virtue signaling is sinful)
From the start of the “migrant crisis,” I’ve been saying something that no one (on either “side”) wants to hear. As I witness the manufactured distress about undocumented immigrants getting better treatment than homeless people, I always ask:
When exactly did homeless people ever get useful, sustainable support from the right or left in The Home of the Brave™? And why are there so many homeless people in The Land of the Free™ in the first place?
It’s convenient for “Republicans” to suddenly engage in handwringing about homeless people in an election year but this is not my first rodeo. I’ve studied so-called politics for decades and helped people on the streets throughout my adult life.
“Republicans” are far more likely to publicly assail homeless people as lazy scammers who need to develop a work ethic.
Today, when it’s politically expedient to cry crocodile tears, I see the pro-Trump crowd using faux concern as a way to virtue signal against their so-called rivals. It’s a hypocritical and disgraceful form of exploitation — with vulnerable souls being used as pawns in a political sideshow.
Meanwhile, the “Democrats” traditionally don’t denigrate homeless people with their rhetoric but when it comes to legislating some assistance, they’re equally as wretched as their so-called rivals.
Rather than make posts, comments, and tweets about how outraged you are over the treatment of homeless people, how about doing something for them? Stop trusting carefully constructed narratives and get to know a few folks living on the street. You just might have an experience like this:
One of my regulars is a woman I’ll call F. She was born in Ethiopia and is well-educated (including culinary school), but after a few bad breaks, she is now struggling without a living space.
F is a dedicated single mom with a sharp mind and a boatload of faith. We’ve connected nicely (she recently called me her best friend) and I pray for her to catch some well-deserved good breaks soon.
This week, amid a very hot and humid stretch in NYC, F asked me if I would do her a favor. “What do you need?” I asked. Her reply: “When it’s this hot out here, please don’t come out looking for me.”
I looked stunned so she added: “It’s dangerous for you to be walking all over the place helping people.”
You can be sure of a few things:
I had to stop myself from crying
Such care and selflessness are very common among the people I’ve helped
By no means will I stop doing this mission — regardless of the weather
I share this to remind people to stop judging and stop assuming. Do not allow The Powers That Shouldn’t Be™ to hijack your thinking and suppress your humanity.
It matters little to homeless people what “well-researched” opinion you post online during a flame war about “illegal aliens.”
But it matters a whole lot to homeless people (or other vulnerable souls) if you’re willing to learn, to listen, to help, and to validate their humanity.
“Do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly.” (Micah 6:8)
FYI: This post is NOT about the “migrant crisis.”

It is interesting to see this phenomenon , which also matches the virtue signaling versus anti covid rules followers. It is telling, it is as if when in 1948 Orwell wrote 1984 he was simply describing via a mirror the status quo of the West, ongoing since, and well before, via the process of capitalism, aka imperialism.
Similarly, it is also interesting to note how MSM or alternative news hyped stories, are almost never based on data. An interesting trend rarely covered by MSM or alternative news is how many are escaping NATOstans, G7s or 5 eyes countries..... we do not have much data on that, I often wonder if MSM / alternative news covered topic are as always misdirections, if anything.
You're so right to ask when homeless people have ever received any useful, sustainable support from either side of the political spectrum.
I believe that not helping the homeless is a means of controlling the population. Witnessing all our lives that people can end up on the streets and not be helped sustainably instills a subconscious fear in everyone.
We are more likely to conform and perform within the hamster wheel to avoid ending up that way. Many may judge homeless people, but I believe that subconsciously we know that something is not right and therefore it instills a permanent feeling of not really being safe in the world.
I know that there are people helping, listening and doing great and compassionate work, like yourself, but maybe we really need to demand that the system be changed dramatically to help these traumatized people heal, be reintegrated into society and be allowed to contribute their gifts, intelligence, compassion and wisdom.
Thank you for your work, compassionate listening and prayers.
