Everyone's time has equal value: TimeBanks, mutual aid & more
Sharing in the proceeds of our collective activity
Recently, I shared this post:
It inspired one of my wonderful subscribers, Malika, to introduce me to the concept of TimeBanks. You can learn lots more here.
For now, here’s the basic concept:
Members share their talents and services, record their time credits, and then 'spend' them later on services others provide. Everyone's time has equal value. This is not barter. Members provide friendly neighborly favors. Together we are strengthening the fabric of our local communities across the planet!
EVERYONE’S TIME HAS EQUAL VALUE.
In a world in which The Parasite Class™ works overtime to convince us that we are under constant threat and resistance is futile, TimeBanks have been thriving for about 44 years.
Spare me the reflexive defense of inhumane systems like capitalism (or other isms). Tap into your boundless imagination to envision the infinite number of better ways humans could be living right now.
TimeBanking 101
Time banking replaces money. Provide an hour of service to your neighbor and earn a one-time dollar. A TimeBank is a network of members who have agreed they will provide and receive services from each other, albeit not directly. (This is not Barter.) Nothing is given ‘in consideration of’ and there are no binding contracts. Members have a moral obligation of reciprocity to the community.
Five Core Values
Human Value: We recognize the intrinsic value of every human being regardless of race, creed, color, or station in life.
Human Equality: We honor the presence of every living spirit on this planet and consider that we are all equally sacred.
Human Partnership: We believe that when we work together to meet each other’s needs, every human being will be cared for.
Human Effort: We honor the contribution of every human being equally, regardless of how slight or grand it may be.
Human Reward: We each apply ourselves to what we love. As members of the human family, we are entitled to share in the proceeds of our collective activity.
There are three basic kinds of member transactions:
One to One - One member provides a service to another.
One to Many - A seamstress provides a class to five members.
Many to One - Five members rake the leaves on your lawn.

So, think about it, my friends. While people on all “sides” of the world’s manufactured debates get bogged down in psyops, there are folks too busy working and cooperating with each other to notice.
For one brief shining moment, I got a tiny glimpse of this with Occupy before it imploded. Just imagine what we could be creating together right now.

My jaw is HANGING! What an amazing concept! Thank you for drawing attention to this. I'm going to look into it further. As you and I have talked about, removing the middle-man of money in any human engagement allows for pure excitement to surge forward.
