I took the above photo of Union Square Park on May 24, 2014 — during the pre-march events of that year’s March Against Monsanto. I was across the street, looking north out the second-floor window of Whole Foods.
The eventual crowd size reached an estimated 3,500 and I was one of the keynote speakers. It was the largest in-person audience I had ever addressed. I kicked ass that day. It felt exhilarating and yeah… even hopeful.
Just eight years ago, coordinated marches like this took place all over the world on an annual basis. Tens of millions of people — many if not most of them of the Left variety — were aware of the dangers of corporate power, genetic engineering, and groupthink. They stood firmly against being coerced into consuming untested and unlabeled products.
Imagine if I had told those 3,500 people that most of them would be wearing useless and unhealthy masks while clamoring in support of an experimental, genetically-engineered Big Pharma product in just six years.
Imagine if they knew they’d soon enthusiastically support cancel culture, censorship, and digital IDs.
If I could have warned them in 2014, would it have made a difference? How many of them would’ve chosen a different path in 2020?
Spoiler alert: It’s not too late to choose a different path… right now.
Shared to Gab. Thank you.
I am still banned on Fascistbook until tomorrow.
I'd love to figure out a way to salvage those people—at least some of them. The possibility of redemption is a cornerstone of my ideology. So is the possibility of enlightened self-interest. But outreach achieved nothing, back when I had sufficient diplomatic chops to attempt it.
