I’ve never been a TV person so I haven’t seen most of the shows people talk about — not even the show in the clip below. What I find interesting here is the predictive planning involved.

By telling the truth on a show like the X-Files, it relegates this information to the realm of science fiction. Anyone insane enough to believe it should be mocked, ostracized, and fitted for a tinfoil hat. From there, they can proceed right out in the open without much notice.
