Much of the support for stomping yesterday's stooge comes from people whose lives are filled with galling humiliation and nagging resentments. They get vicarious payback from the violent treachery dished out to "deprecated assets" and the unfortunate people who can't get out of the way.

Ya know, I believe that "line-of-interests," was also used when a French Canadian UN Peace Keeper called up The U.S. State department looking for protective help during the Rwanda civil war.
The Canadian said something like, "Aren't you gonna help us, aren't you our friends?"
The State Dept lady cooly replied, "The United States has no friends, only interests."
