I’d like to share some words that inspire me on a daily basis. The following is an excerpt from the infamous 1964 “Letter from Mecca,” by Malcolm X:
“You may be shocked by these words coming from me. But what I have seen and experienced has forced me to rearrange much of my thought patterns previously held, and to toss aside some of my previous conclusions. This was not too difficult for me. Despite my firm convictions, I have always been a man who tries to face facts, and to accept the reality of life as new experience and new knowledge unfolds it. I have always kept an open mind, which is necessary to the flexibility that must go hand in hand with every form of intelligent search for truth.”
May we all embrace such acceptance, flexibility, and open-mindedness.
and the truth is just OUR truth. It is not a fact for all people. What is true for one might not be for another. Homeopathics work for me, but obviously are a cuirse to the doc I went to see this morning, because I was scolded at like you would not believe. And the problem I went for was not solved!
(I am angry LOL)
My (limited!) understanding of Malcolm X is that when he went to Mecca & realized everyone needed to work together/join forces, that’s when “they” decided to take him out. A “divisive” Malcolm X was not as threatening as a unifying Malcolm X. Thanks for sharing this powerful quote. Seeking truth can take us to surprising places; reading this gives me strength.
