Throughout my life — particularly over the past six years as I’ve run my program to help homeless women — I’ve been fortunate enough to be called everything from saint to angel to bodhisattva and beyond.
In response, I’m tempted to borrow from the incomparable Dorothy Day: "Don't call me a saint. I don't want to be dismissed so easily."
However, my less flippant reaction is to remind folks that perhaps the bodhisattva in our midst is not the one feeding the vulnerable but rather, the one accepting the food.
What a great post.
