Click the video link below and sing along for 47 happy seconds:
Then, if you will, please indulge a few questions:
Would you have joined in and enjoyed this infectious (oops) singalong in person if some people in the crowd were jabbed (or un-jabbed)?
What if some followed a different religion or voted for a political party you despise, waved a Ukrainian flag, differed from you on climate change, or didn’t know or care what digital currency is?
Could you have savored a precious community moment even if some of your fellow singers were communists, feminists, or “trans”?
What if some held different opinions on 9/11, the shape of the earth, capitalism, or January 6?
If a percentage of those folks picnicking in the park believed viruses existed, could you give yourself permission to breathe the same air as them?
In summary, would you consciously allow yourself to miss out on a rare experience of collective joy with strangers because a few of those strangers might fail one of your litmus tests? If so, why?
Asking for a friend.
I have had the utter glee of joining in with this sort of rag-tag chorus many times. And with people whose religions and political views I had no way of knowing.
This is life
I love this and reminder the simple things that can bring joy in life are free.
Just souls on a journey before all these yahoos start creating reasons to be separate and see others with judgement. Thanks Mickey!!!
