Fake news, movies, commercials... you are being lied to about almost everything
The Society of the Spectacle
“Just as early industrial capitalism moved the focus of existence from being to having, post-industrial culture has moved that focus from having to appearing.” (Guy Debord, author of The Society of the Spectacle)
“The spectacle is not a collection of images, but a social relation among people, mediated by images.” (Guy Debord)
“In societies where modern conditions of production prevail, all of life presents itself as an immense accumulation of spectacles. Everything that was directly lived has moved away into a representation.” (Guy Debord)
“Spectacle is the sun that never sets over the empire of modern passivity.” (Guy Debord)
This ends when we turn off our TVs, stop mindlessly scrolling our devices, and accept the undeniable reality that we have been lied to — 365/24/7 — for our entire lives.
We can’t even be sure why we believe what we think we believe. How many of your thoughts are even your own?
The enemy tells us what to fear, who to admire, who to hate, and how to live.
But, as the Situationists told us, we already know what we feel.
When we detach ourselves from the Powers That Shouldn’t Be, we can connect with our inherent, profound, supernatural powers.
Reminder: You are fearfully and wonderfully made.
I LOVE This....I come from a marketing background so I am well aware..... so, now that I work in an elem school I make sure the kids are educated....at lunch I always pick an educational but fun video for the whole class to watch....otherewise it's mayhem.....and guess what? They watched, all of June, the tricks advertisers play on us ...the real/commercial and movie/reality were some of the ones I picked...you coudl hear a pin drop during lunch...oh, and did I mention this was only a Gr3/4 class..... they get it if you teach it......
I don't know if I ever mentioned this, but the 1968 BBC show called "the News Benders" outlined how the parasites plan the "news" - it's all fake. It's well worth watching. Truth in fiction. They claim that they use fear for "our own good". The show makes a great point that we believe what we're told because we have no way to verify events that happen in remote areas of the world.
