Starting July 15, as part of a “Zero-Covid” policy, Hong Kong residents infected with Covid who are quarantined at home will have to wear an electronic tracking bracelet.

Pro tip: Saying “It can’t happen here” never goes well. It’d be a lot cooler if you did some waking up and standing up.
Yikes! It should be obvious to all that Zero-Covid is impossible, to begin with. Any attempt to implement it is going to be cruel and highly damaging. There is no way to do it right. It can't be done. At all. The ankle bracelets are a fatuous, spiteful measure. And for some reason, a significant chunk of the Left still supports this approach. Presumably because China's governance has socialist characteristics. Needless to say, something can be both socialist and a dismal, grindingly stupid, actively harmful failure.
Presumably this will have to cover household contacts who don't have Covid also. I'm in New Zealand, my wife tested positive on Thursday afternoon (via RAT), I'm still testing negative and have to isolate with her for 7 days.
