It doesn't get sicker than this!
I can't prove it, but I suspect there is some sort of connection between the proliferation, or rather explosion, of tattoos and piercing and the like over the past thirty years and the cult of trans. Call it the worship of the body with its attendant lack of attention to the soul. When the latter is relegated to the sidelines entirely, or replaced with merely bodily hedonism and sham curiosities that change with the wind, human beings start doing even weirder things than they might be inclined to do when more serious matters and concerns are more paramount. Gender dysphoria is a perversion brought about by the death of God, the frankly shocking levels of affluence we have become accustomed to, and boredom (among other things). We can only hope that the Hobbesian state of nature our elites will clearly drive us back to with their absurd and deadly policies of late will eliminate it. But then other problems, more pressing ones, will arise.
