February 20 would’ve been my beloved Mom’s birthday. To celebrate, I visited The Church of St. Monica in Manhattan because that’s where my parents were married back in the twentieth century.
Above is the view upon entering this sacred sanctuary.
View from the front. (It was the best I could do with all the local construction.)
Looking back at the choir area.
The church’s namesake — mother of St. Augustine and patron saint of mothers.
My namesake, Archangel Michael.
The west wall.
St. Mary Magdelene — the patron saint of converts, sexual temptation, and repentant sinners.
Carved from a relic of the true cross.
Close-up of the altar.
The one and only St. Therese of Lisieux, the Little Flower — a doctor of the church — the patron saint of missions (and florists).
It was a wonderful, meaningful visit plus… I got to help a homeless woman who was panhandling in that general area.
Happy Birthday, Mom!

Beautiful memories of your beloved mom. Thank you for sharing. 💫🙏
I too miss my Mom, my firstborn & only son & my only sibling younger brother & many others who as I call it: “Graduated to Heaven” before me.
Sorry for your loss but we will be with them In Paradise someday.
While I’m not Catholic I must admit I love the beauty of the Catholic Churches & especially their gorgeous stained glass windows❣️
Blessings to all who read this.
